If you are new to internet marketing you are probably very confused by this “SEO” business everyone keeps talking about. What does SEO mean. Why is it so important? Search Engine Optimization is known as SEO. SEO is a critical tool that Internet marketers use to ensure that search engines give their content and sites a high ranking, and that’s why it’s so important. The best Internet marketers have a great understanding of SEO and use it to bring their site to the highest ranks on search engines, which will turn a huge profit for them. Don’t be intimidated, you can understand SEO easily. The only thing you need is a point in the right direction. Read on to learn some of the best information you can get about SEO.

First off, search engines are fairly finicky on what they will pick and won’t pick. Not only that, the “spider” criteria that search engines use fluctuate often. It makes more sense to concentrate your efforts on a few well proven concepts with your promotional endeavors, rather than attempting to go back to the drawing board each time that you learn that Google has adopted a different algorithm for SEO. Make sure you know the major points of what you are allowed and not allowed to do and follow the rules. As an online marketer, you do NOT want to get on the search engines’ bad side. Your visitors will vanish with the wind, if your sites become de-listed by the major search engine outfits. One of the biggest no-nos in SEO is duplicate content. Do not fall into the trap, as so many new online marketers do, of writing one article, filling it with keywords and links and then putting it on your site and submitting it to hundreds of article directories. This is the absolute worst thing that you could do for yourself. It’s classified as duplicate content, and the article directories, not to mention the search engines, won’t take kindly to it. You could find your website banned by the article directories, and even have your own website de-listed or entirely blocked by the search engines. It’s always a good idea, therefore, to stick with fresh, original content.

You should not be overly concerned with the page rank that is given to your website. Although you wish to have as high a number as you can get, if you put a lot of energy and effort into stressing over the numbers shown in individuals’ Google tool bar, you will make yourself insane. Besides, every couple of months they recalibrate your page rankings, so you can experience higher or lower rankings every so often. To add to this, the crawlers that the major sites use are given new criteria to search for constantly. If you keep the content on your site quality and make sure your site is great, you will have no problem ranking. It’s an impossible task to try to figure what you can and cannot do because of the incredible number of SEO rules and regulations search engines use. It doesn’t help at all that it’s a constantly changing thing, either. Thankfully, with some time and research you will get the hang of how to make sure your content and websites are search engine friendly. In a matter of time, you might one day look and see that you are on the first page result with Google!
