Have you ever reviewed a product you have bought; I haven’t. And nobody I know has every reviewed a product either. They normally just buy certain things and then if they are not satisfied with the product they will take it back or complain to the company. I expect the products and services I spend money on to be of good quality so why write praise for people who are just doing what they should be doing. I would imagine that the vast majority of people who use web hosting don’t write reviews so this begs the question of who is actually writing them.
Now I know that some people do write reviews on absolutely everything and look at this as some sort of hobby. I would say though that these people are in the minority and not representative of web host users as a whole. I would not say that the web hosting reviews that are out there are reliable at all as they surely couldn’t represent the views of the majority of people. So remember that the next time you read a web hosting review, it was probably written by the person who will write a review for absolutely everything that they buy.
A more sinister side of all this is that there is also another group who like to write web hosting reviews; the web hosts themselves. I do not blame the web hosting companies for doing this because if I was in the same position, I would probably be doing it too. Apparently it is not only common for people to write reviews praising their own efforts, but also to write scathing reviews of the competition’s products.
I’m not sure if I am just being cynical but sometimes I think that reading these reviews really doesn’t provide any value at all.
Anybody thinking about venturing into internet marketing should have hosting sorted out. Newbie’s can find, though, that the web hosting world can be rather confusing. For instance, you could find free web hosting or even dedicated servers when you are looking at different hosting plans.
